A business owner might receive a call or text from someone claiming to represent Wholesale Energy or any other Alberta retailer. The scammer typically threatens immediate power disconnection due to unpaid bills, pressuring the owner to make an urgent payment.
Don’t be deceived. Here’s what you need to know:
Wholesale Energy follows a clear and fair process before any disconnection occurs. You will always receive prior notice and the opportunity to address any issues.
We never:
Accept cash payments at kiosks.
Request credit card details via phone or text.
Accept payments through cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin).
If you receive a suspicious call or text:
Do not share personal or financial information.
Verify the legitimacy of the contact by calling our Customer Care Centre at 1-855-394-5696, checking your account through our secure online portal or contacting your dedicated account manager.
